Constructivism
There is an old saying in Albania ‘the first step to learn from personal mistakes is to see them’.I am pretty sure that my friends will definitely asked themselves ‘What does she mean by that or how it is related with this topic?’.
Everyone, at some point in their life has made a mistake. Sometimes we get lucky and only falter a little, making it through the problem relatively intact.Other times,we mess up a lot and have to fix what was damaged over a long period of time. However, the same is true for most,if not all cases that those who make the mistake learn from it.I have personally achieved a wealth knowledge from all of my own little mishaps.Wholeheartedly ,what helped me going through them was making a brown study of all those mistakes .Reflecting, analyzing, question ing, exploring comes right after every experience weather it’s a good or bad one.
When I bumped into‘Constructivism’the example I provided earlier was the first thing that leaped to my mind.Since,it is related to our personal knowledge ,our personal understanding it means that we are the creators of our own knowledge. The best way to learn new things is by building our knowledge from ‘known’to the ‘unknown’.If we are eager to learn something new we can easily learn it by using what concepts we already know attached to what we are going to learn and then draw a relevant concept.
As future teachers to be we should have ‘Constructivism’the subject of our teaching approaches. The best way to learn is to actively try a concept out and then reflect on that experience. This kind of approach to learning gives students the freedom to experiment, test out and be the ‘leader ‘ of their own learning. This means that they don’t wait from their teachers to be taught however involve in the teaching process. This involving can lead to different interpretations because teachers don’t become passive while students run wild into the classroom. In fact constructivist teaching requires teachers to take an active role in shaping students’s experiences They should be rational which means to be patient enough and gently help at the same time .In contrary to the traditional teaching when students were required to memorize ,constructivism allows students to make meaning and construct ideas on their own .A constructive classroom is a class full of activities .If we are aiming for our students to become reals drivers of learning experience we should draft what approaches to follow. To be honest I believe it is very difficult for teachers to unhook from traditional ways of teaching.
↬Hope you enjoy my late night thoughts.

I think that this post is what we call a reflection.. I like the fact that you have explained the whole lecture by expressing your own opininion and your experience as well.
ReplyDeleteGood job 👏
Good reflection Tea. What I like most about this post is the fact that you put the focus on the active role of the students and the teacher, and how important is being active to the process of learning. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job Tea. Your ideas are clear and easily understood. All the things discussed in the lesson are covered very well.
ReplyDeleteWhat i would highlight is the part we as teachers...is what a call a reflection.
ReplyDeleteGood job Tea
I was very curious to know how was that Albanian expression related to the other part of the post.Your reflection is understandable and original since you have expressed your ideas.I like your expression that we are the creators of our own knowledge and that summarizes the main concept of Constructivism. What I mostly appreciate about your post is the fact that you have emphasized that not only the student should be an active participant. The teacher should also adopt an active role.
